Synopsis: Gordon Cormier shines as Aang, initially portrayed as a cheerful and dedicated airbender who is not yet prepared to fulfill his role as the ‘Avatar’. It would have been great if the show had dedicated more time to showcasing Aang’s life before the air kingdom was destroyed by firebenders. Nevertheless, Gordon’s performance as Aang is full of expression, cuteness, and a fiery spirit, making him a highly likable protagonist. However, it would have been nice if the writers had allowed Aang to be more carefree instead of constantly burdened by the weight of the world. Kiawentiio brings a delightful charm to the character of Katara, who quickly forms a deep bond with Aang, resulting in a lasting friendship. Katara’s character serves as an inspiring feminist role model in the series, as she learns to master waterbending and teaches others, including an entire kingdom, about the power of women in combat. On the other hand, wasn’t particularly impressed with Ian Ousley’s portrayal of Sokka. Perhaps it was because he reminded me too much of Taylor Lautner and seemed somewhat self-conscious in the role.
