Synopsis: Julia Hart’s film adaptation of “Stargirl” recreated the novel’s more odious clichés by immersing us in the male protagonist’s point of view, which had all the interiority of a decorative urn, according to Stargirl, a do-gooder ukulelist in suspenders. Fans may be surprised to learn that Hart’s sequel, “Hollywood Stargirl,” makes a sharp left turn into the world of the carefree young lady. The film begins in the summer before Stargirl’s senior year, when her mother, a costume designer, relocates the family to Los Angeles.
