Synopsis: In Neon Lights, Clay Amani is at the center of the narrative and can be seen as a uniquely unreliable storyteller. There was no narrative coherence to it. Neon lights show promise. But it quickly succumbs under the weight of an identity crisis. The film is uncertain whether it wants to be a portrait of a man on the brink. A slasher, or a psychological room piece. And it ultimately fails to live up to any of these ideas. Neon Lights Follows Clay. A person who is on the verge of losing the position of CEO in his company Tempest Tech. And possibly, his brain too. His own unexplained mental health issues troubled him during an interview early in the film, one that was quickly derailed when the reporter refused to lob his way into softball questions. After this breakdown, Clay goes off the grid. retreats to a property where he aims to be reunited with his family. And lands itself amid the turbulent days before Tempest’s IPO. However, what begins as a family reunion. He quickly takes a dark turn, turning into a random nightmare. The same applies to the rest of the characters in the film. Whereas what the artists have given. Do your best with him. Neon Lights is full of thin sketches and completely inappropriate characters. With much stickiness, the film throws everything at the wall in an attempt to see what sticks. A brief foray into slasher horror from what appears to be a trippy subplot. Including named lights.
