Synopsis: “A Child of Fire” hopes to start small to help viewers into the story, focusing on Kora, who tends to the fields, keeping to herself while her people live to celebrate traditions, including sexual activity as a way to support agricultural fertility. Kora doesn’t have a partner, with Gunnar reluctant to approach the quiet woman, and the pair watch as peace is shattered by the arrival of Noble and his army, who emerge from a very vaginal looking “hyperlaunch” to land on the planet and demand obedience from the farmers. The Nazi-esque group is evil, willing to torture and destroy to get their way, spreading Balisarius rule. There’s a robot too, with JC-1435 as sensitive machine beaten by Noble’s men, with his position in the story saved for “Part Two.” Maybe. “A Child of Fire” eventually locates a dramatic direction, with Kora heading out into the universe searching for those brave enough to stand up to Motherworld and end Balisarius’s malevolent order.
