Synopsis: The Bayford family, led by Lord and Lady, presides over a kingdom that is dying, unable to cope with the hunger and destruction of the environment, while their daughters, Elodia and Floria, do their best to survive. An invitation arrives, bringing them to the green kingdom of Aurea, where Elodie is to wed Prince Henry, son of Queen Isabella. Elodie enjoys the opulence of her new home, hoping to find a connection with Henry that will make her happy, but the marriage is a mere formality, and the new princess is quickly thrown into the depths of a mountain by a Dragon. Elodie realizes that she has been sacrificed as a means of survival, and struggles to find a way to escape, only to discover that she is one of many, a part of the history of Aurea, and learns more about the dragon’s love of hunting. What the effort lacks is a true sense of dread and destruction, and a great opportunity to immerse oneself in the terror of dragon combat is lost in the end.
