Synopsis: Diary of a Spy is a female-centric detective film written and directed by Adam Kristen Clark. Which is low on action and high on drama. This is not a typical detective film. In which there are lots of races, battles, gunplay, etc. It is a kind of spy film. Which is more on the mental level of being a detective. Have to use a female operative. Whose career is at its natural end? When he’s let himself go and has probably seen a lot in his life, there’s an interesting take on the usual detective stories. Here this spy is the one who still has some abilities. But when she’s not working, she’s not making the best decisions. This leads to a disappointing start for the film. This won’t work for some but worked here in terms of making it an obvious end to a career with a touch of self-destruction. Tamara Taylor plays the role of detective Anna in the film. Which is awesome here. She wants to give a given-in-frustration-but-not-really realistic personality. Here she is clearly not peppy, but not yet dead as Anna. The performance she gives has many facets and some real depth. Her character requires that she be able to switch a dime and she does. It’s work that looks great, though sometimes a little disappointing. The young man she’s trying to get by her side in this situation is played by Reece Noi, who gives a mostly subdued performance, which is what the character needs. This isn’t a gun-ho random dude who wants to be a spy, it’s a guy who is potentially trapped in becoming a spy because he knows and has access to who he is. His performance is in the same fashion. The rest of the cast is good and some of the performances are a bit jarring, but here’s the thing. Lookmovie is one of the best streaming platforms to watch movies online.
