Synopsis: Jessica, a children’s book author, brings her unique imagination to life on the pages of her books. However, her nights are haunted by the very creatures she creates. She is burdened with anxiety as she tries to build a family, but her two children are hesitant to fully accept her. Taylor, in particular, is resistant to their new living situation and longs for her old life. The opening act of “Imaginary” explores the complexities of this domestic situation, as Jessica desperately seeks a connection. She finds solace in Alice, a child who shares both physical and emotional scars with her. As the story unfolds, Chauncey, a bear, enters the picture and brings joy to a lonely child. However, the screenplay chooses to focus on Jessica’s discomfort during this challenging period of adjustment, rather than immediately delving into the bear’s eerie nature.
