Synopsis: In the opening scene, set in 1999, J.T., Dean, and Wes decide to play a prank on Halloween by leaving a flaming bag of dog poop on a neighbor’s porch. However, things go awry and the prank turns into a disaster. To avoid getting caught, the trio invents a fictional friend named Ricky Stanicky who takes the blame for their actions. Fast forward to the present day, and the three friends are still using Ricky as an excuse to avoid taking responsibility for their actions. This time, they decide to party in Atlantic City while J.T.’s wife is pregnant. While the premise of “Ricky Stanicky” has potential, the movie fails to deliver on its concept. With six screenwriters, including Farrelly, one would expect a more inventive approach. Instead, the audience is subjected to scenes of dog poop splatter and a montage of Rod performing explicit songs at a run-down casino at the beginning of the film. The potential for a clever and intricate story about man-child characters and their denial of reality is never fully explored.
