Synopsis: Ben Jagger’s Room 203 is based on Nanami Kamon’s horror story about lifelong friends Kim (Francesca Xuereb) and Izzy (Viktoria Vinyarska). They’ve made the transition to maturity by sharing a big city flat, namely room 203. Kim is heading to college to study journalism, while Izzy is pursuing her dream of becoming an actress. Izzy is suffering through the tragedy of her mother’s suicide, and Kim is there for support and, hopefully, to help Izzy cut down on her drinking. The two unwittingly rent an inexpensive flat with a sinister mystery. A large stained-glass display in the living room depicts what looks to be the concluding battle of a holy war. In Kim’s room, there is a hole in the wall that emits a foul odor. Almost immediately, Izzy decides to dig around in the hole and finds a necklace with an interesting pendant. She puts it on, throwing caution to the wind, and now we have a horror story. Similarly shown in the movie, The film Room 203 does a fantastic job of paying respect to Asian horror. Something weird happens in the girl’s apartment, artefacts and evidence are discovered, and our characters must piece together the clues before someone dies or succumbs, as is the conventional plot format. A few harmless jump scares, a strong soundtrack, and terrible sights and deaths provide the film’s dread.
