Synopsis: Ana’s life is at a standstill in the beginning of “Upgraded.” She is a Floridian struggling to find her place in New York City, living with her sister and brother-in-law. Her brother-in-law is eager to get rid of her and encourages her to join the Navy. Ana is also facing challenges at work, unable to impress her demanding boss, Claire, who expects nothing less than perfection from her employees. However, Ana’s luck changes when she discovers a catalog mistake, which presents her with an opportunity to join the team in London. Enter Suzette, who tries to undermine Ana’s confidence and make her feel uncomfortable. Thankfully, a kind check-in agent recognizes Ana’s situation and upgrades her to first class for her flight, granting her access to a special lounge as well. It is in this lounge that Ana has a chance encounter with William, as she accidentally spills a Bloody Mary on his pants, leading to a connection that continues as they end up sitting next to each other on the plane.
